Felted Signal Processing is the arts and research project of sisters Sarah and Lara Grant, focused on soft interface design and sensor development.
Lara has a background in costume and textile design and soft sensor development. Sarah has a background in visual arts and creative development. They are both alumnae of NYU's Interactive Telecommunications Program.

In order to connect with the perceived texture of sound, especially sound which is being shaped via a guitar pedal, Sarah designed a series of felted strips to replace the hardware pots usually found in guitar pedals. The idea was to provide a tactile interface to offer the experience of physically shaping sound and to reinforce the perceived texture of sound.
